GUIDELINES FOR CHRISTIAN CONDUCT:

The Baptist Seminary of South India believes that it has the responsibility to provide guidelines for Christian conduct that will help the student discern between what is Christ-honoring and what hinders the Christian testimony. Conduct should be motivated by a personal love for Christ. Therefore, the explicit guidelines set forth in Scripture should be unquestionably followed. Students must not engage in that which is expressly prohibited in Scripture, such as sexual immorality, adultery, drunkenness, homosexuality, theft, murder, dishonesty, "attitudinal sins,"and "sins of the tongue" (Mark 7:20-23; Galatians 5:19-21).

Although there is Christian liberty in matters not expressly commanded or forbidden in Scripture, we expect each student to comply with certain standards for the testimony of Christ and of the institution (Romans 14; 1 Corinthians 8). The standards for Christian leadership are set forth in 1 Timothy 3. The "fruit of the Spirit" is the natural result of a positive, yielded, growing, and Spirit filled life (Galatians 5:22-26).

We expect the student at BSSI to:

1) Have a consistent and meaningful devotional life of prayer and Bible-study.

2) Faithful attendance in a local church, and active involvement in some form of Christian service.

3) Have compassion for the needs of others, with an active desire to help them.

4) Desire and attempt to reach people for Christ and to develop them in their spiritual walk.

5) Be willing to submit to authority, to work graciously with others, and to study diligently.

6) Abstain from the use of tobacco, alcoholic beverages, and illicit drugs, and to refrain from involvement in gambling and pornography.

7) Show careful discernment in the use of entertainment media.

8) Avoid all dishonesty. This incldes lying, cheating, plagiarism, stealing, violating copyrights, and failure to meet financial obligations.

9)Consistent attendance in Seminary chapel and other scheduled events.
